What my usual autumnal Friday night looks like? I wrap myself up in a cozy blanket, I make a ginger tea in the biggest mug I can find at home and I lay back on my swivel chair while watching a movie. (By the way, the last movie I saw was Last Year in Marienbad, and it so beautifully composed, barring the challenges to understand the shots and the characters, that I can only recommend it to you.) Of course, it is good every now and then to have a change of scenery, something to write about on the blog. This "something" was the White Night of the Galleries or NAG. If you had been following my little promises this time last year, you might have seen a similar post, because this was my second time. There was newness and déjà-vu at the same time.

Just to set the record straight for those who don't know what the NAG is, or they are too lazy to scroll back on the blog, or indifferent to look up for it on Google: it is similar to the Night of the Museums, but this is a fresh approach to art. I don't know whether this program exists abroad under the same name. All the same, it is organised in many Romanian cities, including the town where I live.

This new approach wants to make visitors and galleries grow closer and to get them know the local painter colony. What this initiative make so special are the alternative venues, such as a bastion. Those who are interested can sneak in the ateliers, they are given a warm welcome by the artists and can ask questions, if they have any. All these people have varying visions, style unlike any other's and each of them works with different materials. For example, we saw ceramics and the facade of a building in the first phases. Oh, and a few sculptures exhibited in public spaces.

I think it is very important to always name a few artists, at least this was one of the target points of NAG, to stick for the local  painters, sculptors, such as  Dorel Cozma, Maria Bucur, Ágnes Evelyn, Gyarmathy János and many others.

Nowadays I try to bring my camera everywhere with me, because you never know when you see a moment you would like to catch. It happened to me a lot of times that I had lost an opportunity and after that I was extremely sorry. Therefore, from now on there will be a lot of photo diaries on the blog! :D
