Her Little Promises

Fashion, traveling-aka sharing all the little promises made for myself, with anyone who stumbles over this blog

It's the most beautiful time of the year and I decided to bring you a special Christmas edition of what we call here Blogger Lookout. This time the interviewee is Raluca, from libelulu.ro. She is from Romania, a pure observer, thinker and photographer of what is going on around her and then writes it down for her readers. On her blog has such subheadings as: I give gifts, I decorate, I live, I observe and Inspiration.
If this introduction got your interest, go ahead with reading the whole Q&A, accompanied with a warm bevarage. And don't forget to feel christmassy, because in Decemeber you have the right to! :D
  •  How and when did you start your "blogging career" ?
Haha, I wouldn’t call it a career. Me and blogging have a long story, since I started my first blog in 2007-2008 to nurture my passion for photography and showcase my photos. Afterwards I had a lot of blogs opened and closed, mostly without readers.

If we are talking about the blog today, it took this shape 4 years ago, when I attended an interior design course. The look and feel as it is now appeared last year, in September. It was a natural evolution, I kept improving it since 2014 until today.

  •  The best part of your blog content I like to read are the travel blogposts. But my question is.... What was your most beloved place you have already visited so far and which town would you visit in this festal December period?
It’s a tie between Rome, Amsterdam and Vienna. I do not think I am able to pick one with all my heart, but let’s say with half mouth that it would be Rome. Been there several times and still did not get bored of it.
As for which one I’d visit…any Scandinavian city, I really want some snow!

  • Where do you live and what are the places you would recommand people to visit in your own city  at this time of the year?
I’d recommend a walk on Bucharest’s big boulevards with a warm coffee or tea and some mulled wine afterwards.

  • Where do you buy (if you don't do it yourself) christmas decorations from?
I was pretty disappointed by the offer I saw so far this year. I bought a STRÅLA table lamp from IKEA, but that’s all until now. I created an arrangement as I did last year (I have a DIY article on that topic).
I still have a debate if I should have a Christmas tree in my apartment as well or not (I spend my holidays in my hometown).

  • Which is your favorite christmassy coffee flavour and where do you buy it from?
I try to stay away from coffee flavors, I like my coffee dark. But as a Christmas flavor in general, I have a weakness for gingerbread.

  •  I like the "I cannot cook" part of your blog, especially not being a big chef de cuisine. But are you planning to prepare a more like christmassy dish in the near future?
It’s a really good idea, I don’t know why it did not cross my mind until now. This year for sure will not make it in my editorial plan, it is stuffed with gift-related articles.

Maybe I’ll squeeze one related to table setting :)

  • I strongly believe that everybody has a favorite Christmas or winter movie and playlist/song. I am very nosey to know which are your picks.
I am very bad at picking movies, so I always end up looking at Love actually. Cheesy, I know. As for winter songs, I simply pick randomly a playlist and let it run.

My interviewee in this post is Bella Robertson. It is hard to classify her in just one blogger category, because she writes lifestyle, beauty, travel posts as well as about fashion. She writes passionatily about subjects that inspire her and that can inspire her readers too. Let's get to know more about her...
  • How did you get connected with fashion?
I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember and decided at an early age that I wanted to be a fashion designer. Eventually I discovered the world of YouTube and fashion bloggers and this opened my eyes to other areas of the fashion industry. I made the decision to start my own fashion blog around three years ago as a way to connect with an audience of people that share the same interest as me.

  •  Which  American desginer house is the most beloved one by you?
I actually don’t have a favourite American designer but if I could choose one from around the world it would be Alexander McQueen. Every piece he designed was a piece of art and he had the ability to tell a story through his creations.

  •        What is your current favorite item in your wardrobe for the summer?
I currently have an obsession with off the shoulder tops and dresses so I would probably say that anything in my wardrobe that is off the shoulder is my summer favourite!

  •       What was your favorite photoshooting place so far?
Definitely Tokyo! It was so different from any place I had taken photos before and I wish I had got the chance to do a few more photoshoots while I was there.

  •    Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from a variety of places. Social media is a fantastic way to get inspired! A quick look through Tumblr or Instagram and I already have new ideas forming. Some other places I look to for inspiration are films, nature, and travelling.

  •      I see that you almost always get a great number of comments on your blogposts. What does this feel like?
It makes me so happy to know that I am creating content that people enjoy and can connect to. I cherish everyone that leaves a comment on my blog and love interacting with each of them.

  •  I have read in one of your posts that you write a gratitude list every morning, which is a refreshing idea. Would you mind sharing with us a few things from today's list?
Today's list revolved around the amazing people in my life. I am so grateful for my family, boyfriend, and friends. It's so important never to take the people in your life for granted and cherish each moment you get to spend with them.

If throughout the interview Bella and her blog aroused your interest, you can find her blog here: https://bellasfashionjournal.com/ or you can keep being continually updated on what she is busy with  by following her Instagram account.
Have a nice day and hope you liked the interview with Bella! See you next time!:)

New year, new blogger interview with Andi, the blogger of A little drop of style. A Transylvanian girl in Denmark. I thought  she could inspire you, so I took the liberty to write her an email whether she wanted to answer a few questions:
  •  How come you started writing a blog?
I don’t really know, how it came the idea. I started my blog with one of my friends, because of a blogger who inspired us. In the beginning I posted just outfits, but now I also share my ideas. But I would like to share more outfits in the future.
  • This Autumn you have started your university studies in Denmark. What do you study and what was it like to fit in?
I’m learning fashion design, but we’ll start our specialities next week. During the first semester I learnt also from the business side, which was really important if you want to start your own brand one day. The integration was hard until I didn’t get friends who also understand me. The Danish people are not as open minded for the international students. There are also ‘clicks’. You have to be really open-minded and direct to gain new friends in the very first days. It’s up on you.
  • Did you get to know designer names that you think are well worth following?
Through our university projects, I’ve the luck to know more designers than before. The Designers Remix is one of them. Charlotte Eskildsen is the founder of this brand, who is also a really likeable person. I really like the minimalism in her designs, which reflects back the Scandinavian lifestyle and minimalism.
Also the Monki is one of my favourites, but it is more a fast fashion brand.
  • Did skandinavian minimalism influence your style?
I don’t think that Scandinavia influenced my style. It is good if you know that approximately one and a half years ago I changed my style to a more elegant, but still sporty and minimalistic one. I got a lot of questions at home that ‘Why are you so dark all the time?’ and ‘Who are you mourning?’. But here - because of the Scandinavian minimalism - everybody wears what he/she wants and they are accepting it. Everybody has their own style. I really like the Scandinavian minimalism as much as in the fashion and interior design also.
  • What do you like the most from the SS17?
I really like the mom jeans from the SS17 collection. The truth is that there are lots of pieces that aren't so close to me and to my style. But I don’t think that everybody likes the same and that is more than okay.

Új év és itt egy újabb blogger interjú Andival, a A little drop of style bloggerével.
A designjaiban visszatükröződik a skandináv minimalizmus, emelett mégis egyediek maradnak.
Imádom a letisztultságát.

  •  What is your fave place in Denmark you would recommend everybody to visit?
Sadly, I didn’t have enough time to travel Denmark around, but I’m living on the peninsula now and I have the opportunity to visit some special places. If you are here, I hardly recommend for you to visit Skagen. I promise it is guaranteed worth! Skagen is the most northerly point of Denmark, where the Baltic and North Sea comes together. You can look for some pictures on Google, but in the real life it is more beautiful. Another good place is in Aarhus, the ARoS Museum. On the top of the museum you can see the beautiful Aarhus in 360 degrees, through rainbow windows. It is awesome!
  • What kind of advice would you give those who want to study design abroad, possibly in Denmark?
Firstly the application will start soon so you have to decide if you really want to come to VIA. One of the biggest pros is that the university is free for the students who came from an EU country, you have to pay for your livelihood here. Just a small note, that Denmark is a bit expensive compared to other countries. But there are lots of opportunities, like student jobs - approximately every student is working somewhere. The application is not hard, but it takes a really long time. If you have questions, let me know. I’ll kindly help! :)
(Important: Our school has a Trend Library where you can look for the next year’s trends, materials and so on. - It is a pleasure to be there.)

If you want to follow her experiences in Denmark, or peep at her university design projects, go to  her blog!:)

  •  Melyik a kedvenc helyed Dániában, amit bárkinek tudnál ajánlani?
De a félszigeten, ahol én vagyok most sok helyre eljutottam.

Let me acquaint you with  Sian, an all-around blogger in her twenties, from the UK. I contacted her on instagram and she had a very enthusiastic attitude toward my idea of featuring her on my blog. Get a sneak peek in her blogger life and follow her if you like what you read!:)

  •   This Q seems a but hackneyed(I must ask it not to stick out of the line), but how did your blog-writing-story begin?
I started up my blog after graduating from university and not really knowing which direction to take my writing in. I have a degree in English and Creative Writing and my long-term goals involve trying (!) to get a few of my short stories published. However, when I moved down to Cornwall, I fell in love with blogging and now I love writing about what I’m getting up to in this gorgeous part of the World! I still want to publish that book, but blogging is such a lovely and creatively stimulating way to keep my writing going in the meantime.
  •          What was your most memorable experience connected with your blog?
I would have to say my most memorable experience so far with my blog was when the popcorn company ‘Propercorn’ got in touch with me and asked if I would like to get involved in their new campaign. I was going through a bit of a rough patch at the time and found myself losing motivation to do pretty much anything... but then this little email popped into my inbox and I suddenly found myself crying tears of joy at the prospect of such a lovely collaboration! It was wonderful to hear that someone had enjoyed reading my blog and I was so made up that they would want to work with little old me! It was a proud moment for sure and one that I won’t forget for a while :)
  •         You share with your readers a load of great recipes. Which is your favorite one?
Oooh good question! I think my favourite recipe would have to be my ‘Spiced Orange Hot Chocolate’. Last winter, I went through such an obsessive orange phase and literally everything in my life at that time had to be orange scented... orange shower wash, chocolate orange birthday cake, citrus orange candles- you name it, I had it in a zesty orange scent! So, obviously, I had to whip up a yummy recipe to subdue my strange obsession and that hot chocolate mixture was The Bomb. I dare you to give it a go, you will not regret it!
  •          You just have posted your first video with your new camera on the blog.Do you think you will continue making orderly videos?
I would absolutely love to start making more regular videos for my blog (vlogging was actually one of my New Year’s resolutions!) BUT the nature of my real-life grown-up job at the moment means that setting aside time for filming and editing content is really tough going. Hopefully, however, things are set to change by the end of the year and that should free up some time for me to start cracking on the old vlogging game! I absolutely love getting creative with my new camera, so watch out- there might be a few more vids coming soon :)
  • ·        Do you mind sharing with us a little hint about your upcoming blogpost?
Ah, secrets secrets! I’m so very excited about my next blogpost... so much so that I’m not sure whether to make it into a two or a three part-er! Let’s just say, it’s going to be very summery, very joyous... and probably filled with just about enough pics to make your tummy rumble ;)
  • ·        Which social media platform do you like the most and why? Just in the view of the fact that you post '"Intagram lately", I guess is instagram, but I might not be right.:)
You’re absolutely right- it’s Instagram, hands down. I’ve tried getting to grips with Twitter but I just can’t force myself to be vocal on there all the time! Shy in real life, shy on twitter I guess! But Instagram is really where it’s at for me... I can be as creative as I like with my photography and I’ve found it’s such a fab way of discovering new people around you! I’m also a huge fan of Snapchat but that’s mainly for personal use/constant puppy pics at the moment. I am thinking of linking it with my blog however, so keep a lookout for a stream of dog selfies...you have been warned!
  •          And my last question which I simply cannot omit, though it might sound awkward. Do you name your chickens, because I noticed "Beatrix" in the video?
Oh, I love this question! Yes, all of our chickens have been christened by Yours Truly and, because they are Bantam breeds, their name’s all begin with ‘B’! So we have: Beatrix/Bea (after one of my fave authors, Beatrix Potter) Betty (but sometimes we call her Bet Bet) and Bellatrix (she’s the feisty one, so she definitely lives up to her Potter namesake!)
